Martin Luther King Jr. gave a speech that every American should be familiar with, ” I have a dream.” “I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.” said Martin Luther King Jr., he didn’t just say it to one of his buddies, his mother, or his wife. MLK Jr’s voice rang from the sunny beaches of California to cold fishing docks of Maine. He stood up and made a movement for something he believed in, he stood up infront of thousands of people not knowing whether he would make it out alive or not. He over came his fear so that his children, grand children and generations to come would not face the struggles of being a person of color. By Martin Luther King Jr. speaking about his belief of all men being created equally, it opened the eyes of many Americans and semi-broke the ice between different races, which made America as a whole, more unified.

What the quote “Great thoughts speak only to a thoughtful mind, but great actions speak to all humankind” means is that words can be so remarkable and just put one in awe, but without action what is it but beautiful words arranged to play sweet music to ones ears. Martin Luther had remarkable and passionate thoughts about America being one. That the people who came to this land regardless of race, gender, and sexuality, regardless of our differences, we should stand side by side and let our differences be a beautiful thing and create love and equality among all. Any African-American man could talk about the equality and respect they wanted in society, but Martin Luther made a stand, he took a chance and let his voice be heard in hopes that his passionate thoughts would speak to all mankind, he took action to let people know what he wanted for the better of humanity.

When one plans on action on their thoughts or words they must carefully plan to be succesful.  Many humans actions are based on instinct or their personality which in some cases, sad to say, can be a negative thing.  People don’t want a leader who is all talk and no action.  Anyone can stand up infront of people and voice their opinions, ideas or visions but with no intensions of acting on their words, why try to become a leader?   If you have an idea or a vision and you want to make something of it then you have to follow through one hundred percent, if you just talk about it your opening a door of inspiration to someone who will use that idea and act upon it.  If you have an idea that you even think is worth peoples time to listen to wouldn’t you want to take action and credit for your brains and imagination?

       If i were to create a product with a precise balance of both form and function, fit to improve humanity, i would create a form of transportation that runs on organic substances. This vehicle would not only improve the lives of our human society but it would improve the lives of nature and its beauty. Without the cost of gas prices, polutted air affecting our lungs and our animals of both land and sea, we could walk the streets with a fresher breath each time, animals habitats would be reserved rather than damaged, lives would improve vastly. The appearance of this would be a small type of car, similar to a hybrid or style along that line becasue it would seem to catch the eye of one who is more enviormentally friendly rather than a big “gas guzzeling” vehicle. This product would work simply by being fueled with organic substances that would be constructed naturally in a lab in order for transportation to be an accessability to those of use.

Over time, many new inventions came about that are very efficient and used everyday. One invention that had a huge impact in the past, in the present, and will be in the future is birth-control. Birth-control is a very good method to use when a woman wants to be sexually active but does not want to get pregnant.  There are many different types of birth-control, some being more effective than others. Because there is no other way to prevent sexually active females from pregnancy 100 percent, with birth-control other protection should be used.  Condoms and spermacidal lubricant are good preventers

as well. You can never be too safe.

            Way back before condoms and birth-control the only way to prevent pregnancy was to not have sex at all. Mostly back in those times it wasn’t lady-like to have sex for purposes other than to give birth.  It also wasn’t looked upon to have sex until after marriage.  When people started exploring sexuality a little more, still before the condom and birth-control, they used the “pull-out method.” The pull-out method is not a very safe and protecting way to prevent pregnancy.  Pre-ejaculatory fluids may leek and impregnate a female.  Also the male may not “pull-out” on time which could lead to an unwanted pregnancy. 

            Condoms are the next method and so far are the most effective protection other than no sex. Condoms can be made of rubber, laytex, or animal skin. They protect sperm from fertilizing the female egg without having to use the “pull-out” method.  Spermacidal lubricant can also be used with condoms or birth-control, it could be used with out protection as well but a condom would be recommended if you do not want pregnancy.  Spermacidal lubricant creates a gel-like barrier preventing sperm from traveling up the cervix. 

            Birth-control is the most recommended protection for woman from pregnancy.  First there was the pill, later shots, and now you can protect yourself from pregnancy with the Nuva ring which blocks off and prevents fertilization.  No birth-control is 100 percent effective and different types effect women differently.  Some pills can cause a woman to either gain or lose weight, it usually causes growth of the breasts, it reduces the menastral flow, and can also cause a change in diet and fatigue.  Pills are to be taken once daily to work effectively, and they should be taken around the same time everyday.  Birth-Control shots are to be taken every 3 months and are injected in the upper arm or in the buttocks.  The hormone progesterone in the birth control shot works by preventing ovulation.  This is said to be the most effective method of birth control because if a woman cannot ovulate, there is no egg to be fertilized.  The Nuva ring is a flexible ring that is inserted into the vagina once a month for protection against pregnancy.  The Nuva ring is just as effective as the pill, it is a ring that you change once a month and it releases a low dose of hormones so pregnancy risk isn’t very much a risk at all. The Nuva ring is 99 percent effective, same as many birth control pills if used as directed. Other forms of protection such as condoms or spermicidal lubricant does not have to be used with birth control methods, but if you want to be as safe as possible you should use them as well.

            Birth control is a very important invention created because it allows women to be free to explore their sexuality without having to worry about getting pregnant.  Although birth control is not 100 percent effective and does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases, in the future I believe that they will come up with a new birth control method that protects a woman from both pregnancy and STD’s 100 percent.  With birth control woman do not have to contemplate the idea of abortion because of unwanted or unexpected pregnancy. Birth control had a very positive effect on society and its used everyday by woman who want to be protected.  It is used as an essential in many womens’ everyday lives and will continue to protect us for generations to come.
